We spent the past month in China and Korea on a production trip, and already knew making clothes was a process. What we didn't expect was just how human it all was.

Across factories in Guangdong, we walked through entire ecosystems—production managers juggling dozens of clients, sample rooms where sketches become real, seamstresses who've spent years perfecting a single technique. Not assembly lines. Communities. And honestly? Nothing like what you've probably seen in the headlines nor on green-screen-TikTok-videos. No danger, no chaos—just people laughing with coworkers, breaking for a hot lunch catered by the factory, and clocking out right at 6pm on the dot. Overtime exists, and when it does, it's paid at 1.5x—same as anywhere else in the world. It was, in the best way, just a normal workplace.

The part that surprised us the most? Most factories don't do everything in-house. Once a garment is sewn, it travels—to a dye house, a print studio, an embroidery workshop. That's why a run of just 100 pieces takes 5 to 10 full days, even at a large factory.
